Volunteer Groups at LJW Most of our voluntary work is organised by our local groups across the UK Each local group runs independently with its own chairman and committee. As well as helping to organise LJW welfare work, groups often arrange social day or evening meetings. These may include invited speakers, book groups, bridge groups, outings. Many groups also arrange annual fund-raising functions which take on many different forms. To keep local members up to date the group often produce a newsletter. Representatives from the groups attend central meetings to exchange ideas and discuss common problems. If there is not a group in your area you can become a central member of LJW. This gives you the opportunity to undertake welfare work, attend seminars and functions, and become a member of LeagueArtz. LADS (League Associate Division) enables men, and others not able to take up full membership, to participate in LJW voluntary work, attend seminars and social functions. Prime Time is a group established for women on their own to meet socially, mainly in the evenings and at weekends. This is a Greater London based group. JMums are groups for younger women with children. To find out if there is a group in your area, LADS, JMums, Prime Time or central membership contact us at our central office. |
