Welcome to the LJW

In 1943 LJW was formed to aid the war effort by providing hands on help to all those in need. We are still doing that today. Times and needs have changed but practical voluntary help is still wanted in hospitals, schools, hospices, day centres and in many other ways.

LJW members reflect
the whole spectrum of Judaism in this country, and as such, are able to act as ambassadors for Anglo-Jewry by
offering our services to anyone who needs help regardless of religion

Most of our voluntary work is organised by our
local groups across the UK giving members an
opportunity to work near their homes. A monthly
meeting is usually held for members which provides support and a social network.

We offer our members opportunities to extend
their own knowledge by arranging seminars on
Health and Social Issues subjects, and also
organise through our LeagueArtz committee
opportunities for group visits to theatres,
concerts and exhibitions.

LJW is not a fund raising organisation. However, we do charge a minimal membership fee to organise events throughout the year, and supplement the groups and central office
